Tabletop Standard Painting
A minimum of 3 colors have been used (not including the primer colors or pre-shading colors).
A wash/ink/contrast paint or similar product has been used to add depth to the model.
No primer or bare metal/plastic shows anywhere on the model.
Each major element on a model is defined by appropriate color, (e.g., flesh/skin versus armor/cloth.)
Bases tops are finished with a minimum of 2 colors or flocking material (e.g., sand/grass).
Base edges are painted.

UNFINISHED: The army is not fully assembled.
UNPAINTED/PRIMED: This army is not to a minimum 3 color standard.
PREPAINTED: Pre-painted models (i.e., Heroclix, X-Wing, Hotwheels) will count as tabletop standard
as long as the entire army is comprised of pre painted models from the same set and in the same scale.
TABLETOP STANDARD: The army* is painted to a 3 color standard as described above.
CLUB LEVEL: The army is painted to a TABLETOP STANDARD & all models are clearly labeled
(e.g., sport uniforms are numbered, different units in an army are labeled, heroes stand out)
and bases are marked
(e.g., bottom of all bases have the owner's name, front/rear/side facings are marked for clarity)
3 COLOR+: The Army is painted above and beyond the TABLETOP STANDARD and shows a great deal of effort and care. Models of this level are eligible to participate in club painting contests.
ARTISTIC: Advanced techniques have been successfully used.
The army has a cohesive theme and bases have additional elements added to them.
DISPLAY**: The Army represent both exceptional skill and effort and warrants a close inspection as it is in the running for a painting prize and is subject to the following scoring system.

SCORING SYSTEM
+1 For two layers of highlighting.
+2 For three or more layers of highlighting. This overrides the previous bonus.
+1 For blended highlighting.
+1 For Object Source Lighting.
+1 For Weathering.
+1 For NMM.
+1 For freehand work.
+2 For exceptional freehand work. This means artistic work that is above and beyond basic freehand work such as squad markings, etc. This overrides the previous bonus.
+1 For a cohesive, noteworthy theme throughout the army. This is above and beyond a common theme and represents an impressive, creative work that is unique or uncommon.
+1 Exceptional basing with multiple elements used, or for noteworthy care taken in construction.
+1 For conversion work.
+2 For exceptional conversion work. This means sculpting parts, major kit bashes, etc.
This overrides the previous bonus.
+1 For a display Board.
+2 For an exceptional display board that shows effort and artistic talent above and beyond the norm. This overrides the previous bonus.
Not Included in Judging Criteria
Judges are not expected to be familiar with the background or subject matter of so many different models. Therefore:
Conversions of stock models or scratch sculpting of an entry will not be considered, beyond the technical and artistic quality of the work.
Historical accuracy will not be considered.
Adherence to game rules or canon (such as traditional faction colors or unit composition for wargame models) will not be considered.

MASS WARCLUB additional restrictions:
1. Lead models are not allowed.
2. All models should be clean and free of any thing that will ruin tables or affect player's health
(e.g. mold, mildew, waste, wet paint/ink, glitter or excessive loose basing materials)
3.Any models with imagery, symbolism, markings, or mottos connected with real world hate groups
will not be welcomed at club events (including historical wargaming)
and can not be displayed on any of the club's online pages.
There is a zero tolerance policy in effect for this matter
and any club member found willingly violating this rule will be banned from all future gatherings.

*In this document all instances of "army" are to mean all models controlled by a player.
**In any instance of painting contests, prizes/recognition will only go to the person who actually painted the model. Pre painted models are not eligible for entry in any club contests.
